A first aid course for a driving licence is a legal requirement in Germany in order to obtain a driving licence. This course teaches the basic measures required in an emergency at the scene of an accident until professional help arrives. The course usually lasts 9 teaching units (TU) of 45 minutes each. It is not only important for the driving licence, but also valuable in everyday life in order to be able to act correctly in emergencies. Proof of participation in the first aid course is valid indefinitely and must be presented when applying for a driving licence.
